Our current one is being demolished this year.

The best part (at lest my favourite part) is when we get to see Harold the Life Ed mascot, Harold is a giraffe, and he lives in a small compartment beside the TV.

My Calf was a Shorthorn, and her name is Milo

 In Leading I got a 2nd,

Leading is when you go around a set ring and get judged by how well you and your calf do.

In Rearing I got 3rd,

Rearing is how well you looked after your calf and how much you know about your calf.

and in Dairy Type I got another 3rd

Dairy Type is how good a dairy cow your calf is going to be.

I am happy with my placings because I had a few weeks to work on her. If I had got a fourth I would have never even thought of putting it up on my wall with my other ribbons.

Do we care? No, we don’t, if we did then the native falcon wouldn’t be as close to extinction as it is now. They are as much of a pest as us! If we didn’t have any Falcons in NZ then it would be full of unwanted birds that aren’t native to
New Zealand, we could end up over –run by them, and not know what to do with them. When we are over-run by them, but would we know what to do with them? The falcon is a beautiful, graceful and calm bird soaring through the air that we think we own, but we don’t, it belongs to the king of the skies, the
New Zealand Falcon. The Karearea has been known to attack dogs as well as people. The Falcon is an icon of New Zealand’s only endemic Falcon, and only remaining endemic bird of prey left to
New Zealand, and is frequently mistaken for the more common Swamp Harrier, a larger look-alike. 

In the South Island the Falcon is usually found in heavy bush and high country and is rarely seen north of a line in theNorth
Island. The female falcon is always larger then the male two thirds of the size of the female, unless you are thinking that the rather large falcon you are looking at is male. The
New Zealand falcon is a hobby, a bird that is extremely fast and agile in flight with speeds reaching up to 200 km/h. Most of the birds prey is caught on the wing and it kills with a “tooth” on its beak, unlike other Falconiformes, which kill with their feet or their claws. The Karearea has a wingspan of about 45cm and has a weight rarely exceeding 450 grams. The Karearea is slightly over half the size of the Kāhu, the Swamp Harrier, which usually attacks on sight.  The Karearea has twice been used on
New Zealand stamps; it features on the reverse of the 20 dollar note. It was also featured on a collectable $5 coin in 2006.
